SafeTALK Suicide Prevention Course
“LivingWorks SafeTALK is a fantastic course…The new maritime vignettes make the program even more accessible to the maritime industry, with scenes demonstrating how the learned skills can be used in different environments. Whether you’re a cadet in your first year of college, a seasoned Officer on board a vessel, or the loved one of a seafarer coping with a long-distance relationship, there is a scenario in SafeTALK that addresses the thoughts and feelings in that moment.”
WeCare is an exciting initiative designed to promote positive mental health and wellbeing for seafarers across the world.
Positive mental health and wellbeing is essential to every seafarer and their fellow crew as it creates confidence, motivation, team work and safety onboard. However, there are times when situations onboard and onshore can prove physically and emotionally demanding. This can lead to seafarers sometimes feeling overwhelmed and susceptible to feelings of anxiety and depression. In severe instances, this has led to suicide.
